Lagos Makes a U-turn on Tech Hub Audits

After announcing that Lagos State Safety comission (LASG Safety)—in collaboration with Acquicorn Projects Limited—would conduct safety audits of co-working spaces and technology hubs in Lagos between September and November 2022, the LASG Safety has announced that it will suspend its planned safety audits.

 

According to letters of introduction sent to tech hubs, these audits would ensure that tech hubs adhere to best practices by conducting risk assessments of their facilities and making appropriate recommendations.

The initial announcement stated that all coworking spaces and tech hubs would be required to pay a fee of $150,000 ($347) per year for audits. The fee consists of a documentation fee of $50,000 ($115.92) and a certification fee of $100,000 ($231.84) payable to LASG Safety.
